There are six main kinds of adjectives:
Most adjectives are generally placed before the noun especially when they are in the superlative form. They describe the noun.
Example (1)
"new" here is the adjective which describes the object (noun) "glasses". It becomes clear in our minds that the glasses John bought were not old ones but new. The image is made clearer thanks to the "adjective" new. So, the adjective's role is essentially descriptive when it is an Of quality.
Example (2)
"this" is the adjective which specifies which example we should check. It points to a specific example: this example not that one. So, The function of the adjective in the sentence is demonstrative.
Example (3)
Distributive adjectives on the other hand are used to deal with a number of persons or things either individually as it is the case here in the example above or in groups as it is the case with every / all. Either/neither mean any one or none of two persons or things. A final remark each can be used as a pronoun.
